Race with Restraint is a program dedicated to making frontal head restraints and helmets easily accessible to anyone who goes on a race track. The Motorsport Safety Foundation places mobile kiosks at tracks so that drivers can rent the device for the day and return it when finished racing.
There is a general lack of awareness of how FHRs work and how they can prevent injuries. Many drivers have never tried them on or have misconceptions about how to wear them and what the comfort level is. These kiosks are easily accessible, placed in high-traffic areas like registration, and very cost-effective. This program gives drivers the opportunity to demo several models, which will hopefully lead to higher adoption rates of the devices and ultimately push drivers to make a purchase.
Race with Restraint will educate drivers on the importance of restraint devices as well as offer greater awareness and accessibility.
