Rafael Garces

Transplant Type: Double Lung

Rafael Garces is fighting for his life. In 2008, he was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  This came as quite a shock as there is no history of this disease in his family.    Doctors say a double-lung transplant is urgent for his survival.

During such a challenging time, Rafael is thankful to be surrounded by a strong support system of family and friends. More than anything, he wants to live a normal, healthy life and have quality time with his family and friends.  He dreams of one day being able to walk without getting tired or having to be connected to an oxygen tank 24 hours a day.  But right now, he needs your help.

The cost of a lung transplant is expensive. Fortunately for Rafael insurance will cover the cost of the actual transplant. The transplant team has asked him to have a contingent fund to cover ancillary costs. Rafael urgently needs the transplant, and he cannot be put on the waiting list until he reaches the fundraising goal. As soon as Rafael reaches this goal he will be placed on the transplant list.

Please consider making a contribution to his fund, any contribuition would be greatly appreciated.

The average double-lung transplant costs more than $ 1 million. And that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Rafael. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Utah Transplant Fund,  3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Rafael Garces” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
