Why Raptors?

As top-of-the-food-chain predators, raptors are our lens into the health of the shared environment. Surveilling and aiding in raptor health is an early detection system, alerting us to wider ecosystem challenges happening down the rest of the food chain.

Anyone can help injured, sick, or displaced raptors if you know where to take them. Lucky for our raptors, you have found the birthplace of raptor medicine.

Our world-renowned hospital is nearly 100% donor-supported.

Our veterinarians begin providing care to injured raptors at the moment of admission. Are you ready to scrub in?

  • $10 can feed an American kestrel for one week
  • $20 can feed a great horned owl for one week
  • $30 can feed a turkey vulture for one week
  • $40 can feed a bald eagle for one week
  • $100 can feed all four raptors for one week!

You can help us perform life-saving orthopedic surgeries for raptors. Performing an orthopedic wing fracture surgery can cost $1,500 or more, and raptors don’t have health insurance. Instead, our raptors have something better than insurance, and that's YOU! Since 1974, innovative raptor care has been made possible at The Raptor Center through the small but mighty donations from community members like you.

Today, every dollar donated will be matched up to $80,000 by a group of raptor heroes. Raptors are apex predators that require incredible strength and need to be in tip-top shape to survive in the wild.
