Raymond Hamrick

Transplant Type: Kidney

Raymond Hamrick is awaiting a new lease on life. In 2010, he got very sick and went on a high dose of Lasix to help with his fluid retention. Unfortunately, the fluid kept returning and as a result, he eventually had to stop working. In 2011, he was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. At that time, he went on dialysis, which leaves him very weak and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is critical.

During this difficult time, Raymond is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Renee, and their family and friends. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will improve his quality of life and give him back his energy. Raymond used to enjoy fishing, camping, and going dancing with his wife, but his health prevents him from doing those things now. He wants nothing more than to be healthy again so he can eat normal foods, have more energy, return to the activities he once enjoyed, and be able to walk on the beach with his wife. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Raymond lives 60 miles from his transplant center and has to travel back and forth for appointments. When he receives his transplant, Renee will have to travel back and forth daily from their home to the hospital, incurring substantial travel expenses. Raymond’s declining health forced him to stop working, further adding to their financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Raymond. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Florida Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Raymond Hamrick” on the memo line.
