Haiti On The Rise
The St Joseph Parish in the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti is a place that serves its municipality and is also used as a residence for its pastors. The massive January 12, 2010 earthquake destroyed many structures including the church and the rectory of St Joseph Parish.
In fact, since the earthquake more than six years ago, a steel shipping container has served as an office and a residence at St Joseph Community. Can you imagine living in a shipping container under temperatures reaching 100 degrees or more? With the hot weather conditions in Haiti, it is extremely uncomfortable for people to live inside a metal box. As a result, those who sleep inside the container have been experiencing health issues because of their living conditions. It is with great urgency that the St Joseph Parish rectory needs to be rebuilt. We have also focused our efforts on St Joseph Parish because it is a place that is known for the hungry, the unfortunate, and the poor who seek assistance daily. It is unpractical to help a community inside a metal box. Therefore aiding to build that dwelling is directly helping the underprivileged.
Considering that people in the St Joseph community lost everything during the earthquake, they have come together as difficult as it is to amass $30,000 toward the rebuilding of their rectory. It means they have remarkably completed 40% of this project on their own. Therefore, we are seeking assistance from kindhearted and compassionate people like you to help finish the rectory which will be a place where its pastors can sleep and an office to provide services to the community. This construction will be built in conformity with current earthquake and storm codes. The impact of the earthquake and other natural catastrophes in Haiti is visible and palpable. Each day it is difficult for those enduring the harsh living conditions there. Raising the necessary funds to complete this project will only bring joy and contentment for the people of the St Joseph Parish. You can be a part of this, for we can make this happen. All of the funds raised will cover construction costs for the parish rectory.
While Haiti has been forgotten, the damages caused by the earthquake and its resulting problems remain. Haiti On the Rise is a (501)(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Its mission is to help reestablish structures and programs destroyed by the 2010 earthquake in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, which was near the epicenter of the disaster. We partner with the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince to accomplish our mission.
Haiti On The Rise seeks your support for this project. Thank you so much for your consideration and your generosity; for together we can make a difference in the lives of the people of St Joseph community in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
