Richard Garcia

Transplant Type: Kidney

Richard Garcia is awaiting a new lease on life. He was diagnosed with hypertension when he was only 21. Over the years, it has taken a toll on his kidneys and they are now failing. Richard is on dialysis, which leaves him tired and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.

During this difficult time, Richard is thankful for the love and support of his wife of 35 years, Teresa, and their family and friends. Richard and Teresa have four children and six grandchildren. Richard’s illness prevents him from being the active husband, father, and grandfather he longs to be. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from dialysis and give him back his energy. Richard enjoys being active and running a Youth Ministry, but his illness limits his activities. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can resume his active life, continue to do Youth Ministry, and enjoy life with his family and friends. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs more than $442,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Richard is a contractor, and his illness has had a drastic impact on his ability to work. He is only able to work part time now, further adding to his financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Richard. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Oklahoma Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Richard Garcia” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
