Richard Gold Visionary Fund

In honor of our recently retired founder, the Pongo Poetry Project is proud to establish the Richard Gold Visionary Fund. The fund will support Pongo's poetry mentorship programs and help us spread our methodology to offer therapeutic healing to those coping with trauma in communities around the country. 

Richard founded Pongo on the idea that creative expression offers a unique vessel for healing from devastating trauma. For 25 years he led our organization, sharing the benefits therapeutic healing locally, nationally and around the world. As all of us are in the midst of a public health crisis, economic upheaval and a long overdue reckoning with systemic racism, Richard's insight remains an urgent one. The need for Pongo is greater than it's ever been.  

The youth Pongo serves, across juvenile detention centers, schools and psychiatric hospitals, are bearing the brunt of these crises. This tumultuous period only exacerbates their pre-existing trauma. Your gift to the Richard Gold Visionary Fund will help Pongo leverage the therapeutic power of poetry to offer healing to those who need it most.
