Having a connection to nature and science has been so impactful on my life. I have dedicated my career to environmental education because I want others to share in this experience with me. Everyone deserves to have meaningful experiences outside at a formative age. That is why the work that EENC does is so important. EENC supports environmental education across the state of NC which allows more students to connect to our natural world, develop a sense of place, and learn what it means to be a steward of our planet.
Please join me in supporting this cause and this organization. I have served on this board for one year and am dedicated to continuing my commitment to support EENC's mission in a time where I think this work is more needed and impactful than it ever has been.
Environmental education is critical. It provides time in - and a connection to - the outdoors which research has shown to improve physical, mental, and emotional health. Learners not only gain environmental content knowledge but also support to become civically engaged leaders. As such, environmental education is just as important for our participants as it is for the planet.
EENC believes everyone, regardless of their background, where they live, or their demographics, should feel welcome in environmental education activities to reap these various benefits. Now, more than ever, we need to work together. It will take people of all ages and backgrounds working together to make informed decisions about increasingly complex environmental issues affecting the economy, public health/safety, and shared natural resources on which all life depends.
