Rob T. Morris
Transplant Type: Liver
Rob Morris is fighting for his life. Later in life, Rob was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis, a genetic disease in which your body absorbs the incorrect amount of iron, resulting in a buildup of iron in critical organs; his heart, liver, and pancreas. This disease combined with lifestyle choices led to Rob being diagnosed with End-Stage Liver Disease, variceal bleeding, ascites, and hepatic encephalopathy in 2017-2018. His illness leaves him extremely exhausted and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a liver transplant is critical to his survival.
During this difficult time, Rob is grateful for the love and support of his family and friends, especially his daughters Tarryn and Fallon. His daughters constantly worry about his health. Rob looks forward to receiving a transplant that will allow him to return to the activities he once enjoyed, like going to the beach, traveling, fishing, and snorkeling. He wants nothing more than to have a second chance at life so he can see his daughters get married and have children of their own. But right now he needs your help.
The average liver transplant costs approximately $878,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
When Rob receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate four hours away to be near the transplant center while he recovers for at least 6 weeks, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Rob’s illness forced him to stop working, further adding to his financial burdens.
