$500 goal

Hi dearest community. This June I am raising money for Choosing Our Roots (COR), community grassroots volunteer collective that is my paid work, my heart work, and one of the most valuable ways I've been of service in my life time. COR's mission is to ensure that all queer Alaskan youth and young adults have access to safe homes, supportive communities, and opportunities to thrive. We do this using a Host Home model - matching up queer youth experiencing homelessness with queer-affirming host homes. COR provides youth with individualized case management services as well as connection to queer community.

I believe that supporting houseless youth is one of the very most essential jobs we can do as LGBTQ+ people and queer adjacent people. This work is intersectional - we serve people with a cross section of barriers due to the social toxins of white supremacy, transphobia and homophobia - and it is hopeful - young people are extremely competent and creative leaders and I love to follow them.

I'm setting a goal of $500 - hoping that people will give as they are able and share with your broader communities.

COR is always looking for volunteers, especially folks interested in becoming a host home. Are you interested in becoming more involved with COR? Email volunteer@choosingourroots.org to be connected.
