I did it!

Update posted 5 years ago

With my aunt's donation directly to Dive Warriors a total of $4,800 was raised. Thanks for all of the support. It was a great run and I did better than my 10 hour goal. Now it's time to get ready for a 100 miler!

I'm Taylor. I'm a Marine, a disabled veteran, a SCUBA diver, and a runner. I am also a Dive Warrior.  Dive Warriors is a nonprofit dedicated to providing disabled veterans with the many therapeutic benefits of SCUBA diving. Dive Warriors provides training and monthly dives to Catalina for disabled veterans, as well as tropical diving trips each year. The time on the water allows us to feel the camaraderie we felt in the military. Dive Warriors is a family and gives us a place where we can speak with others that share similar experiences.

As a SCUBA instructor and disabled veteran, I am not only a member but also part of the staff, leading dives with other members each month. SCUBA provided me a way to clear my head, to focus on the moment and, most importantly, it helped with PTSD. I quickly had the passion and goal of sharing SCUBA with other disabled veterans. Once I became an instructor, I found Dive Warriors and Brad, our founder, welcomed me to the family.

As a way to keep my head clear when I am not diving, I love to run. I have ran a few marathons over the years and decided it is time I challenge myself by running my first ultramarathon to raise money for Dive Warriors. I could not think of a better place to do it than Catalina Island, where we dive each month. I am signed up to run the Avalon 50 mile on January 11, 2020.

It will take a lot of training, both physically and mentally and I will keep this page updated with my training runs and workouts. I've been training for a couple months and will be running the St George marathon on October 5.

Feel free to check us out at divewarriors.org. Please help support Dive Warriors by donating to this fundraiser or directly to the organization. Anything is appreciated and will go directly to supporting diving trips for disabled veterans.
