In 2018 my wife Lindsay was diagnosed with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. For years she had been dealing with chronic pain, fatigue and constant illness. While the diagnosis was not the news we hoped for it was good knowing what was wrong. There is no cure for either of these diseases. That’s why this year I plan to run the 2019 Dallas Marathon in support of my wife, to raise awareness of these chronic, often life threatening, and incurable diseases.
Treatment has been intense over the past year and a half. Weekly chemo-like drug injections, monthly infusions, a whole host of other supplements and extreme dietary restrictions have been a lifestyle change like no other. But we continue to be blessed and feel grateful for good doctors and continued medical progress.
Last year we raised $2626 dollars for the Lupus Research Alliance, the leading non-government organization funding Lupus research.
Today I am asking for a couple things:
- Pray for Lindsay, our family and everybody impacted by this chronic and often invisible disease.
- Donate $26 to this cause in support of Lupus Research. That’s $1 for each mile I will run on December 15 in the Dallas Marathon (or as much as you feel led to give - we are trying to raise $3000 this year!)
- Like and share this post with your network and help spread the word about this life changing disease
It’s no coincidence to me that last year we raised $2626 (a full marathon is 26.2 miles).
This year my goal is to raise $3000 for the Lupus Research Alliance.
Please consider donating $26 ($1 per mile) or as much as you feel led to give! Through your collective support we can make a difference.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support!
