Poor Azul was rescued just in time

You can tell by looking at poor Azul's picture that he has not led an easy life.  He was dumped in a grassy area where just days before another dog like him had been seen and was dying of leptospirosis (a painful and often fatal blood infection). Thankfully our rescue friends scooped this guy up and got him to the vet right away. He was suffering from an awful skin infection and had been scrounging for food and water for weeks. Even though he was so thin and neglected, he was very friendly to humans, wagging his tail and giving kisses to the veterinarian staff. Azul is on the mend and finally ready to come to the DC area to start his new life.  A dog that can be happy through all the pain they've been through will surely bring joy to a new family!
