Hello friends and family!

First off, I hope you all are faring well during these difficult times.  I wish I could invite you all to attend a wonderful charitable gala in person, but unfortunately, that will not be happening this month.

As you may know, our son Grant, was diagnosed with Spastic Hemiplegia (a form of Cerebral Palsy) in May of 2019.  What you may not know is that before we received the diagnosis from Seattle Children's Hospital, we were already receiving help with Grant's developmental delays from an amazing organization called Kindering.  They've helped us navigate our journey with Grant to receive the support he needs to meet his developmental milestones every step of the way.

Until Covid-19 hit, we had therapists coming to our home 2-3 times per week to help him gain use, strength, and flexibility on his right side.  When we started with them in April of 2019, Grant could not roll, could not crawl, and rarely used his right hand.  His two physical therapists, Mollie and Olivia, were able to successfully get Grant to roll independently, walk independently, and gain increased use of his right hand within 4 months.  It was unbelievable! It really was amazing to see him change right before our eyes once they were connected to our family.  Besides the physical help Mollie and Olivia provide to Grant, they provide emotional support to our entire family.  We are still reaping the rewards of their efforts.  Seeing Grant having the time of his life today riding his balance bike made me realize how much we owe to Kindering.  There was a time when we weren't sure if he would ever ride a bike.  We are very grateful for his team and his continued progress.  Currently we meet with our team members via Zoom and have recently added a speech therapist.  Grant looks forward to seeing what Lindsey has to share with him and his speech is improving daily!

I know that many people are experiencing financial hardships this year, but if you have any money set aside for donations, I would like to invite you to take a look at the Kindering organization and consider them!  They provided our family so much light and hope during a dark time.  And, I know that they have done the same for many families in our area who have children with developmental delays and disabilities, regardless of their financial status.  One of the reasons they are able to provide that kind of support is because of donors like you.  Thank you and I hope you all continue to stay healthy!

Why

Kindering supports children with developmental disabilities, delays and risk factors throughout the Puget Sound area. They help children reach their developmental milestones, while also supporting the entire family on the unexpected journey of raising a child with special needs. Kindering provides support, therapies, and education, regardless of a family’s ability to pay for services. The goal of every Kindering program and service is to help children of all abilities reach their fullest potential. Kindering's vision is that all children will be fully and equitably included in their homes, schools and communities.

Early treatment of developmental difficulties makes a life-changing difference. The research is clear. As 85% of brain development occurs from birth to three, this is the most important window for providing infants and toddlers with special needs the best chance for success.

Kindering's annual Salute to Courage Benefit is crucial to raising the funds needed to continue their important work. Your support is needed more than ever. Join my team to help Kindering reach their goal of $150,000! Make a donation or start a fundraising page as a member of my team and share it with your network!
