Health care is a right, not a privilege.
As an ER doctor, I treat patients every day who are struggling with their health, housing, food security, low wages, and low levels of education. As the American city with the greatest income inequality, many Atlantans (and Georgians on the whole) are being left behind by the top 10%. You can't achieve at school if you don't know where your next meal is coming from. You can't manage your health - taking blood pressure medicine and eating healthy - if you can't afford rent. These are just some of the issues that Georgians for a Healthy Future (GHF) is working to rectify.
Over the past year, 500,000 Georgians moved off Medicaid during the unwinding. 2026 marketplace premiums rose 114 percent on average after enhanced subsidies expired. More than 190,000 Georgians have already dropped their coverage because they couldn't afford it.
GHF is one of only a few organizations in Georgia that helps people navigate both Medicaid and the Georgia Access marketplace. In 2025 alone, GHF:
- Reached more than 8,000 Georgians with clear, unbiased information about their coverage options
- Helped 125 households enroll in Medicaid or marketplace coverage
- Provided personalized support to 375+ individuals with questions about their coverage or referrals to free and low-cost services
The incredible staff at GHF work every day to make Georgia a healthier, more equitable and just place; a Georgia that supports everyone reaching their full potential; a place where I want to live and raise my family.
