Chessie is making progress!
Chessie has completed her heartworm injections and is almost ready for adoption. Her vet is pleased with her progress and has approved short walks and less crate rest, which makes Chessie super happy. She is a really good girl who deserves the best life! We could use help paying for her medical bills, which are over $2,000. Please donate any amount- every donation helps! Thank you!
Our hearts are breaking for this sweet girl who has known only neglect her entire life. You might remember that we posted about her on Giving Tuesday. We were live-time rescuing her that day when the shelter contacted us about her saying she was very pregnant and needed out of the shelter right away. We jumped into action and got her to a loving foster home asap.
However, once here we observed some concerning health issues and got her to the vet right away. Her belly was extremely distended suggesting a pregnancy but she was coughing, having diarrhea and acting uncomfortable.
Sadly, it turns out this girl is not pregnant but has such severe heartworm that her little heart is failing her and the distended belly is fluid build up. :(
She had to start her treatment right away because she was declining and having seizures- the vet honestly wasn't sure if she would even make it through treatment.
Chessie has miraculously made it through her 3 heartworm treatment injections but she's still having difficulty breathing. She will begin new medication, which will hopefully get her feeling better.
Please help us secure the funds to get her the best treatment she deserves!
