The road to “Opening Up America Again” is uncertain during this time, especially for our most vulnerable individuals, seniors living with Alzheimer’s Disease or any other related Dementias.  Like many other organizations, due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic, the Alzheimer’s Services Center has been affected but our mission has not changed.  “To enhance and prolong the highest quality of life possible for persons living with Alzheimer’s Disease or any other related Dementia and for their family members.”  Therefore, it is important that we all come together on May 5, 2020, #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity and giving.  The Alzheimer’s Services Center will be participating in #GivingTuesdayNow “Save Our Center” COVID-19 Fund, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.  Our goal is to raise $100,000.  The funds will help us with our current need to keep our center alive and it will also assist us with preparing for our re-opening.

The Alzheimer’s Services Center was organized by its’ founder, the late Mrs. Janice A. Coye.  Mrs. Coye started operating an Adult Day Care Center in a three-room building in 1990.  The Respite Care Program was started in 2011 after the facility moved into its’ newly constructed 12,000 square foot building.  A separate respite wing was built for the Respite Care, which can house up 5 clients.  It is designed to give the seniors that five-star hotel feel. In this new facility, The Adult Day Services can hold up to 50 clients a day.  We provide an essential service to the working class of people who cannot afford it. Therefore, we provide the best quality service at a discounted rate, so that their caregivers can feel at ease when they leave their loved ones with us either during the day while they’re at work or for a longer period of time while they are on vacation. The need for our services were made apparent by the caregivers of these clients.

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic, we had to temporally close because the clients we serve are the most vulnerable.  As I speak with our current clients’ caregivers on a weekly basis, many of them asked when we will be re-opening and they can’t wait until we do because of the emotional, physical burden and burn-out associated with this type of care.  Given the nature of our services, COVID-19 has made a detrimental impact on our Center and now our much-needed services are put in jeopardy.

Please join the movement now by donating to our #GivingTuesdayNow “Save Our Center COVID-19 Fund so that we can continue supporting and providing the best quality and affordable services to our seniors and their caregivers!!  Any amount is not too small.
