Poor Beagle is Homeless and Alone

Rex doesn’t understand what happened. One day he was curled up beside his elderly owner, the only family he’s ever known, snoozing peacefully after a snack. The next, his owner made the difficult decision to surrender him to a rural shelter. At 6 years old, this beagle/basset mix had a quiet, pampered life, filled with (too many) treats and reliable routines. Now he’s overwhelmed by barking, sterile kennels, and unfamiliar faces. He’s overweight from too much love and not enough walks, but the shelter is no place for a diet or a broken heart. Rex is grieving and confused in a place he doesn’t belong. Homeward Trails wants to get him out and into a warm, loving home, but we can’t do it without help.
