We lost Scott unexpectedly on Aug. 19, 2021, at age 29. Scott Matchett was a USA Deaf Swimming athlete and son of Doug Matchett, one of the founders of USA Deaf Swimming and our Executive Director. Scott's family asked that donations in his memory be made to USA Deaf Swimming. We established this scholarship fund to respect their wishes. Donations will be used to support athlete participation in USADS programs.
Scott was an international deaf swimmer with United States of America Deaf Swimming (USADS) and also swam with the Fairport Area Swim Team, Brighton High School Swim Team and RIT Swim Team. He graduated from Brighton High School and Rochester School for the Deaf and attended the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at RIT. He worked at FedEx Ground and enjoyed camping, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, skiing, watching NFL games, traveling with family and friends, and helping others, including neighbors with yardwork and plowing driveways.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring; details will be announced in January.
Alternatively, memorial donations may be made to USADS, 9310 Topanga Canyon Blvd, Suite 220, Chatsworth, CA 91311
