Senior Pup in Worse Shape Than Expected!

Senior dogs can have a tough time in the rescue world. Most rescues overlook them, afraid to take on the extra expense of an older pup. When Homeward Trails first found Joan, she was in pretty bad shape. It was clear she had a skin infection and cloudy vision. Other groups had already passed on helping her, but Homeward Trails refused to let her go.

Visits to the veterinarian found that she does indeed have a skin infection, as well as an ear infection. But what was truly  causing her the most pain were her rotted teeth! 

Homeward Trails rushed to schedule Joan's surgery and remove the infected, painful teeth. She is starting to feel better, but will need ongoing treatments and care to manage her skin condition and other issues. With your help, and lots of love, we are confident that she will be a healthy senior gal in no time!
