Shaun Hart
Transplant Type: Kidney
What if you were living on borrowed time?
Shaun Hart is awaiting a new lease on life. In early 2019, he was diagnosed with severe kidney disease. He was only 29 at the time, and his diagnosis came as a shock. Since then, he’s undergone four surgeries and he is now facing kidney failure. Shaun is on dialysis, which leaves him tired and affects his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.
During this difficult time, Shaun is thankful for the love and support of his family and friends. He has an 8-year-old daughter, and his illness prevents him from being the active father he longs to be. Shaun enjoys woodworking, music, rock collecting, video games, and craft shows, but most importantly, he enjoys spending quality time with his daughter. His health and lack of energy limit his activities now. Shaun looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from dialysis and give him back his energy. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can enjoy more quality time with his family and live his life to the fullest. But right now, he needs your help.
Unfortunately, Shaun’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Shaun lives nearly 100 miles from his transplant center, and traveling back and forth can be expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate to be nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Although Shaun is still working, it is difficult due to his health and dialysis schedule. When he receives a transplant, he will be off work for an extended time, further adding to his financial burdens.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Shaun.
If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Oklahoma Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Shaun Hart” in the memo line.
