Shining Star Preschool

Shining Star Preschool is a state-licensed, play-based preschool where children 3-6 years old are encouraged to learn through guided investigations. Our mission is to provide an environment and activities that stimulate a child's interest in the world, allow children to practice the basics of positive interaction, gain skills that support academic learning and instill a sense of endless wonder of God's world.

Our goal is to create spaces where the students feel comfortable trying new things and where they learn to be confident, independent, and creative thinkers.

Shining Star Preschool has been in operation for nearly 30 years. It is valuable to the community as it offers families a choice of where to send their children for their early learning experience. No families are turned away due to ability to pay, ethnicity, or belief. Our teacher-to-student ratio is 2 to 12, which enables opportunities to understand and address all students’ needs. We become like family at Shining Star.

The theme for Give Big 2026 is "Small Acts, BIG Change." One small act that would make a big change for the preschool would be the addition of a door between our art room and resource room. As it stands now, we must traverse a long hallway every time we need something from the resource room--it is both the storage room and where we prepare snacks for our students. Donations from Give Big 2026 will be put towards construction costs for a new door between these two spaces. If possible, construction would commence in the summer of 2027.
