$15,000 goal

This #GivingTuesday — December 1, 2020 — Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society will renew its commitment to help protect science in schools where "academic freedom" laws or bills continue to challenge the established science in textbooks and threaten science education.

Together, we’re seeking to raise $15,000 to send one-year digital subscriptions of American Scientist to 700 high schools and, as an added benefit this year, to provide these schools with opportunities to bring scientific experts and authors from the magazine directly into their virtual classrooms to engage with students and teachers.

Donations raised over the $15,000 goal will be used to send subscriptions and experts to more schools. High schools that will benefit from this campaign are primarily located in the following states:

Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

**#GivingTuesday EXCLUSIVE**

All donors to Sigma Xi’s 2020 Giving Tuesday campaign will receive exclusive access to custom digital artwork from American Scientist. These special images, for download and use on both computer and smartphone, will be delivered via email in late-December.
