I'M GOING TO CAMP!

I'm going to a very special camp where every camper has a broken heart because they are grieving the death of someone they love.  Every camper feels sadness, but wants to feel joy. Every camper feels alone, but wants to feel connected.  Every camper feels fear, yet wants to feel hope.

Annie's Hope - The Center for Grieving Kids is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides comprehensive support to children, teens, and their families who are grieving a death.  All programs of Annie's Hope, including camp, are funded by grants and donations, which allows them to be offered to families free of charge.

What Camp Means to Me

This is my 3rd year volunteering at camp and I look forward to it every year! I have been a school social worker for 7 years and this camp provides an experience for kids that we can't provide in a school setting. Every single camper has something in common that most people find uncomfortable discussing in normal conversation, even though death and grief is part of everyone's life. The atmosphere of this camp is something you can't find anywhere else from the compassionate counselors to the energized campers. Most people I've talked to about this bereavement camp think about how "sad" it must be; but, it's honestly the opposite with high levels of energy, fun, crafts, hiking, songs, activities, and love from every single person. This camp does have it's "sad" moments people usually think of; however, those are reflective moments and needed at certain times throughout camp in order to move forward. I encourage you to give generously to this camp so kids don't have to grieve alone!

Why Sponsor One?

With your help and financial support, we can change the way children deal with the pain of their grief. By sponsoring one child, we are turning their sadness into joy, their loneliness into new friendships, and their fear into hope.

Below, a 16 year old camper describes the impact of Camp Erin after the death of his father:

“I did not think going into this that Camp Erin would be fun and helpful.  I went in thinking this would be a total waste of time.  But I was completely wrong, this camp helped me in so many ways.  I just moved to St. Louis and I had no friends; now I have many.  It also helped me open up and trust others with my grief. The counselors are great; they understand what I’m going through and are always willing to listen.”

All funds raised by this Sponsor One campaign will directly impact the campers supported by Annie's Hope, who all have grief stories similar to the one above.

Please Donate

I hope you will partner with me on my Sponsor One campaign, so we can give grieving kids the support and hope they need.  My goal of $925 will cover the full financial value of attending Camp Courage or Camp Courage - Teens for one camper.  Together, we can heal broken hearts and help kids feel like kids again.

All donations are tax-deductible and can be given in a number of ways.  Online donations through this page or through www.annieshope.org are completely secure.  Credit card information can be taken over the phone by calling Annie's Hope office at (314) 965-5015, or you can send a contribution directly to Annie's Hope.  Please include my name and make checks payable to Annie's Hope.

Checks should be mailed to:
