Empower Limited Income BIPOC Youth with HBCU Tours

Join the Pearl Foundation in igniting potential and transforming futures with our HBCU initiative. We need your help to open a world of opportunity for five remarkable youth in the Puget Sound area. Your contribution to this campaign will sponsor life-altering visits in 2024 to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) – centers of excellence that cultivate leadership, innovation, and academic success among students of color.

HBCUs have a unique legacy of empowering generations of African-American leaders and thinkers, creating environments that celebrate and uplift the cultural heritage and intellectual prowess of their students. All students served will come from the Puget Sound/Tacoma area, and would otherwise be unable to take this trip to the Southern United States without financial assistance. Funds will go towards plane tickets, food, transportation, supplies, and hotel rooms. 

HBCUs typically have higher acceptance rates and more affordable tuition, making four-year university education accessible for some students who might otherwise forgo attending college. These institutions offer more than just an education; they provide a unique opportunity for students to learn from educators who share their background. HBCUs have partnerships with top-tier companies like Google and Microsoft, offering specialized internships that are exclusively designed for Black students, opening doors to lucrative career paths.

We are empowering youth on a journey of discovery, inspiration, and empowerment for these young minds. This trip will build bridges to higher education and career paths that might otherwise seem unattainable for youth from families with limited income.
