We're celebrating early...
Amazing: We've surpassed our $7,500 goal with three full days to go in our campaign! Thanks to the generosity of 74 team members — and a substantial gift from supporter Dan Eisenstein to get us way over the top — we have raised nearly $11,000 so far. Thank you all for being part of this landmark effort to support the top-notch writing, reporting, editing, and photography/illustration that go into every feature in Bay Nature magazine.
And the fun isn't over yet! We still have another goal to reach — getting to 100 team members! — and we will be accepting gifts of any amount through Sunday at midnight.
Let's do this!

Local journalism is an endangered species. Many quality publications have been forced to shut down in the face of increasing economic pressure. While you can’t put a price tag on the wonder and passion that each Bay Nature article inspires, the truth is that top-notch science journalism is expensive.
This week, will you stand up for Bay Nature? To meet our goal of $7,500, we are asking 100 Bay Nature supporters to donate $75 each (or more if you’re feeling extra generous!).
Why $7,500? That’s the average cost to produce a feature-length article. Your money goes towards the team of local experts that every Bay Nature piece requires, including:
- Freelance journalist
- Photographers
- Artists
- Copyeditor
- Fact-checker
- Art director
- Editorial staff
As you can see, it takes a team to create and sustain a local publication. Our donors are at the heart of what keeps us going. Fight to protect local journalism by supporting Bay Nature today!
We appreciate your gift of any size. For those who choose to give above $150, we offer the following as thanks:
- Gifts of $300 or more will receive 3 complimentary gift subscriptions
- Gifts of $225 or more will receive 2 complimentary gift subscriptions
- Gifts of $150 or more will receive 1 complimentary gift subscription
