STEPHEN'S JOURNEY CONTINUES....
As many of you know Stephen's heart required an internal defibrillator to be put in a couple mounths ago. This procedure will hopefully allow his heart to function in a manner allowing him a better quality of life for the time being. Thanks to the constant monitoring of his labs/heart/medications he feels somewhat better and has been able to visit family, friends and enjoy the outdoors he so dearly loves.
Though the Clay Shoot/Silent Auction wasn't as widely attended as we had hoped we are forever grateful for each and every person who helped and/or participated. The money raised through this fundraiser will help ease the financial burden of medical expenses Stephen is experiencing and will continue to require.
THANK YOU to all who have in the past and continue to follow, pray, support and help in so many ways as Stephen travels this uncharted path.
Current fundraiser - A GUIDED BEAR HUNT!
Remember all donations are tax deductible. Silent auction/raffle contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Stephen Miles
Transplant Type: Heart
What if you were living on borrowed time?
Stephen Miles is fighting for his life. In March 2021, he began to experience shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. He was diagnosed with stage four heart failure on April 15, 2021, and now, doctors say a heart transplant is critical for his survival.
During such a challenging time, Stephen is thankful for his two beautiful daughters, family, and friends, who have been by his side every step of the way. He wishes they did not have to be so concerned about his health, but he is grateful for their love and support. Before his health began to decline, Stephen enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and his dog, but these days, his activities are quite limited. He looks forward to the transplant that will allow him to get his life back. Most importantly, he wants the chance to watch his daughters grow up but right now, he needs your help.
Unfortunately, Stephen’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price.
The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million. And that is only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Because Stephen must travel more than three and a half hours from his home to the transplant center for evaluations and doctors’ appointments, he incurs substantial expenses for each trip. When he receives his transplant, Stephen and his caregiver will have to stay near the hospital during recovery, adding to the financial strain.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Stephen.
If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Stephen Miles” in the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
