Steve Jenkins
Transplant Type: Heart
Steve Jenkins is fighting for his life. In 2007, Steve started experiencing heart failure and AFib issues to the point of him being placed on disability. Sadly, he is no stranger to heart disease, as several uncles and cousins passed away from heart attacks. His condition leaves him very tired and impacts his quality of life. Doctors say a heart transplant is critical to his survival, and Steve was added to the transplant waiting list in March 2018.
During this difficult time, Steve is grateful for the love and support of his wife, Kim, and their family and friends. Steve looks forward to receiving a transplant that will give him back his energy and allow him to feel like himself again. He wants to be able to return to the activities he once enjoyed, like caring for the animals on his farm and traveling with his wife. More than anything, he wants to be healthy and feel like he is a contributing force for his family and community rather than having to rely on their help. But right now, he needs your help.
The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million. And, that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
When he receives his transplant, Steve will have to stay near the transplant center while he recovers incurring substantial expenses. He had to stop working due to his declining health, further adding to his financial strain.
