Daricia Mia DeMarr, Guest Curator for

A Feminine View of Brotherhood

STMA’s annual Brotherhood of Mankind exhibition returns to the West Gallery from February 3rd to April 2nd, 2022 as A Feminine View of Brotherhood. This show is an invitational exhibition featuring the works of four female artists. Guest Curator Daricia Mia DeMarr has invited these artists:

InKyoung Choi Chun

Hannah Israel

Jennifer Mack-Watkins

Dayna Thacker

She has selected specific works by each that fit the Brotherhood philosophy and address the themes of humanity, inclusion, harmony between different groups, and hopes for a better future.

There will also be a reception and panel discussion with Daricia and the artists at the museum and live streamed.

Help us honor Steffen's legacy and support   diverse, talented voices in the art world.

“This world is too small for less than brotherhood, too dangerous for less than truth.”

A Day at STMA is a field trip program for K-12 students in any schooling situation. It begins with a tour led by trained docents and ends with a make-and-take art project delivered by a visiting artist or STMA's Arts Outreach Coordinator. The project is always inspired by a Steffen Thomas technique, style or common theme.

We also offer virtual tours and pre-made art kits with instructions and supplies for a whole classroom. These are given to teachers in our area at no cost, so they are a great resource in financially and geographically challenged areas. During the 2020/21 school year, these art kits were essential as classrooms went hybrid or online. STMA sent over 850 art kits to K-12 students who learned about Steffen Thomas and gained new skills.

If we meet our goal, STMA can host 10 class   field trips and give out 16 classroom kits!

One classroom art kit costs about $75 and will serve around 100 students. One class’s field trip experience costs about $375 and includes a classroom art kit, so they get 2 days of fun and learning.

That’s about 1,950 students served if this   receives full funding!
