We are in this together. Worldwide we are all impacted by the pandemic, but COVID-19 has overnight left thousands without the means to provide for their families here in Bocas del Toro. We can only hope that the shutdowns and quarantines work quickly and effectively so that life can return to normal sometime in the near future. We are doing everything in our power to help the local children and families who need it the most. Bocas del Toro is severely impacted due to the large percentage of the economy that is dependent on tourism. With schools shut down, parents left unemployed, and no tourists in town, families are struggling to feed their children and buy basic necessities. Furthermore, Give & Surf's ability to respond & help as well as operate programs is in jeopardy due to the inability of volunteers and service groups to travel to Panama currently.

In response, Give & Surf is aiming to raise $30,000 in the next 30 days for the following:

1. $10,000 for financial assistance packages to 200 families who are most in need that includes a small cash stipend and rice & beans. Cost to sponsor one family: $50

2. $10,000 for Give & Surf's local teachers' salaries and livelihoods. Give & Surf employees 11 local staff who lead all of our programs & community centers. Even though our programs must remain closed until schools re-open, we are continuing to pay our staff to ensure they are in turn able to take care of their families and help their communities.

3. $10,000 for Give & Surf's early childhood & after-school programs which will resume as soon as the public schools re-open. Due to restrictions on travel and volunteers cancelling which funds a large part of our operations, we need additional support to fund our free educational programs & services that serve over 1,000 children weekly.

While this is a hard time for us to reach out to ask for help as we know everyone is facing hardship and uncertainty, we also know that now is a time to rally together. A donation of any amount goes a long way to helping those most in need during this time of crisis. Thank you for your love and kindness!
