Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice

Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice (DWEJ) is Michigan's original environmental justice nonprofit organization. We've grown from a small group of grassroots activists that formed in 1991 to become a major voice known in Detroit, across the nation, and beyond. 

We believe that all Detroiters deserve a healthy place to live, learn, work, play and pray. Environmental racism and injustices keep far too many Detroiters from accessing clean and affordable water, clean air, clean energy, quality housing, quality schools and recreation, and a part in decision making. We collaborate with communities in the fight for the right to safety and health for the present and for future generations. 

Our work has improved and touched lives in every Detroit neighborhood over the past 25 years - but we are just getting started and YOU can help us continue our mission!
