Since its inception 33 years ago, The Michael O’Neal Singers organization has provided a unique opportunity to the north Atlanta community to experience musical presentations of engaging variety and artistic excellence. After hosting a year of successful online interactive programs for choral singers, the 110-voice auditioned MOS chorus returned to in-person programming this autumn. 

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, choruses and choirs all over the world ceased activities. Through its unique online choral experience that included YouTube video rehearsals and real-time Zoom social interaction, MOS filled a void in the lives of many singers as the organization found new and creative ways to fulfill its mission of serving the community through choral music programming. In the 2020-2021 season, MOS ONLINE programs drew over 1,500 participants worldwide, welcoming singers from 36 states and from 15 countries. 

In 2021-2022, the in-person and ONLINE choruses of MOS are rehearsing virtually side-by-side, preparing the same repertoire and experiencing together a culminating concert. The in-person chorus is auditioned; the ONLINE choral experience is open to all interested singers, whether near or far, seasoned or beginner. This dual choral programming is new territory for MOS but has evolved naturally from the community formed by singers in the throes of pandemic isolation.

The financial support MOS has received over the span of the pandemic has been critical to MOS’s adaptation and expansion, and donations are still needed to ensure we can meet the expenses associated with reopening in a changing world.
