Sue Lucas Gordon
Transplant Type: Living Donor: Kidney
Sue Gordon did not waste any time when she found out that her brother, Rob, needed to have a kidney transplant due to polycystic kidney disease (PKD). While it is normally the big brother who looks after the little sister, Sue jumped into action to help take care of her big brother. Without him knowing, she began the testing to become a living donor and was thrilled to find out she was a match for Rob! By donating one of her kidneys, Sue is able to offer Rob a second chance at life. Sue’s family, is supportive of her selfless decision, and the transplant will take place in the near future.
Unfortunately, Sue’s gift of life doesn’t come without its struggles.
While most of the medical costs related to Sue’s donation are covered by Rob’s insurance, she will still feel a financial impact. Sue will have to be off work for up to two months without full pay following the transplant. There will also be follow up appointments after the transplant to ensure that there are no complications.
Sue is thankful for the chance to be of service to someone in need and has seen this as her “calling” since she began the process more than a year ago. She has a wonderful support system of family and friends and is so very thankful for their help.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Sue. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Michigan Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Sue Gordon” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
