Susan L. Jaynes was a senior at Ohio State University at Mansfield. She was student-teaching in the Mansfield City Schools when she was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of childhood cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma.

She fought a brave battle, as cancer ravaged her young body. A vivacious advocate for inner-city youth, Susan was determined to beat cancer and devote her life to teaching in the Mansfield City Schools.  She had a special ability to relate to children and motivate them.

Her family received her elementary education degree posthumously upon her death. She wanted her life to make a difference in our community. It has, and still does.

Though Susan lost her courageous battle with cancer after eight grueling months, the fund that was established in her name lives on to provide scholarships for junior and senior Elementary Education students at OSU-Mansfield. Only a few scholarships have been realized to date because of the lack of funding. To honor her memory, we would like to see her fund grow and, in turn, the number of scholarship recipients grow.

Especially if you knew Susan or her family, please consider giving a donation of any amount to help give her fund the boost that it needs. May the tragic loss of Susan's life be used to benefit Elementary Education students for years to come!
