Helpless and abandoned

This brown eyed beauty is Gertrude. She's a five year old lab mix coming from a rural VA shelter. This sweet girl is the picture of perfection - she's good with people and dogs and has spent far too much of her life behind bars. So often do people throw away a dog when they're no longer small and puppy-like - which is awful because amazing dogs like Gertrude get left behind.
