Bake for Freedom

Hi! We are Taz and Sequioa, two friends from college who enjoy food and ending modern-day slavery. 

Slavery is the holding of people at a workplace through force, fraud, or coercion for purposes of sexual exploitation or forced labor so that the slaveholder can extract profit. A 2017 study by the UN estimates that about 40 million people are in slavery. Some of the most common forms of slavery include debt bondage, sex trafficking, child soldiers, domestic servitude and contract slavery. 

Free the Slaves is one of the leading non-profit organizations (headquarters in DC)  working towards ending modern-day slavery. Sequioa and I decided to show our support for this cause by organizing a fundraiser. We hope to  raise funds, share good food and spread the word about this problem.

Sequioa is based in DC and will be handling the logistics of the campaign and meeting with Free the Slaves representatives.

I am based in Atlanta, where I will be selling homemade desserts (cakes, pastry, tarts, cookies etc) at a suggested price but feel free to donate any amount you wish. The desserts will be located on a cart beside the coffee station in the stockroom of Atwood and will be available every Monday 10:30 am-4:00 pm starting from Feb 1st.
