As a mom, lifelong Bloomington resident, therapist and elected official, my life's work is committed to helping kids in Monroe County have a shot at thriving. We can do that in so many ways with compassion and education. Early learning, especially reading, is an important predictor for future success. I support all efforts to help kids get what they need early on so we can prevent a number of problems from occurring in adulthood. Healthy kids make great, healthy communities! Funding will be used to increase access to high-quality education for at-risk children and low-income families, improve quality of programs, cultivate family engagement and community partnerships, develop training opportunities for educators, and provide required community matching funds for On My Way Pre-K students.
