Terry Gregory is awaiting a new lease on life. Fourteen years ago, he was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis. His diagnosis came as a surprise, as there is no family history of lung disease. Terry is now on supplemental oxygen in order to breathe. Doctors say a double-lung transplant is critical to his survival. Before he can receive a transplant, his transplant center is requiring him to raise funds.
During this difficult time, Terry is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Angela, and their family and friends. Terry has two children and a grandchild. His illness causes his family a lot of worry and is particularly tough on his wife. Terry looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from supplemental oxygen and allow him to breathe freely. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can have a better quality of life, take stress off his wife, travel again, and help others. But right now, he needs your help.
The average double-lung transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Terry lives 170 miles from his transplant center, and traveling back and forth for appointments can be expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate to be nearby, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Terry’s health forced him to stop working, further adding to his financial burdens.
