community care is everything to me. 🌱 APIENC's campaign to advocate for mental health care access for QTPOC is dear to my heart. 💞
to say the least, last year was rough for me & many of my disabled QTPOC communities. a particularly severe episode resulted in multiple hospitalizations, lost jobs, and a depression that lasted more than half a year. it showed me again how broken (and violent) our existing institutions are at supporting disabled QTPOC. it made me desperately want to re-imagine community care for disabled communities when we are the ones trusted to heal each other.
this one-year anniversary has been difficult to process in words. i'm so thankful for (relative) stability, my friends & communities who supported me, and for finally being able to graduate college (after 6 years!). i would not have imagined this day to be possible a year ago.
as a disabled neuro-divergent queer asian from the east bay, i'm so grateful to be part of the APIENC summer organizer program. in a world that continues to deny my communities the right to be safe in our identities, it means so much that APIENC exists as a place for me to be able to heal in community, imagine and build out community safety solutions, and share our journeys with each other. ❤️
organizing with this wonderful community fills me with hope in such dark times. please donate today to make this vision of ours possible 🥲
if you can share this with your community, i would rly appreciate it: bit.ly/tgao-support-apienc 🥺
