The mission of the Center Helping Obesity in Children End Successfully (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.) is to be a parent and child resource center for the clinically diagnosed and at-risk children of obesity. Our vision is to move all families from the margins into the center of the healthy eating and living movement.
A Holiday Meal...
This year we are asking for your support towards giving families food for Thanksgiving!
According to the USDA, roughly one in eight families are food insecure, a 31% increase from 2021! While the demand to feed children, families and seniors in need is growing each day, food insecurity is felt most profoundly during the holiday season.
Our goal is to serve 2,000 families who would not have a healthy holiday meal otherwise. Truly, no donation amount is too small! The C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Community Teaching Kitchen exists to increase food security in families and decrease obesity in children.
GivingTuesday and Georgia Gives Day is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. As a non-profit organization, we rely on donations to help the families that we serve.
Childhood Obesity...
Childhood obesity is still an epidemic! According to the CDC, today approximately 13.7 million children and adolescents, ages 2-19, suffer from obesity and are likely to become overweight adults, thus increasing their risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and other health issues.
Food insecurity...
We realize that to stop childhood obesity, the entire family must have access to healthy foods and know the importance of proper nutrition. Healthy eating helps individuals, no matter their age, maintain a healthy body weight, consume important nutrients, and reduce the risk of developing chronic health conditions (CDC).
C.H.O.I.C.E.S. has delivered its message of health to more than 275,000 children and adults through cooking classes, mobile food pantries, health workshops, summer camps, and children's expos. Our 2025 goal is to expand these programs to more families across the country. Because food is medicine and cooking can be fun!
Please choose C.H.O.I.C.E.S. as your charity during this #GivingTuesday and beyond!
