The Hamlet is currently seeking your support for two critical improvements that will directly enhance the safety, comfort, and quality of life for our residents.
First, we hope to replace the aging generator at Hamlet House with a reliable, automatic unit. Our current generator must be turned on manually, which is difficult during power outages, especially when only one caregiver is on duty. An automatic generator would help ensure uninterrupted power, allowing caregivers to focus fully on residents’ needs during the outage. We are working with North Sound Electric to do this, and their broad estimate to purchase the generator, do the installation, and work on the load shedding is $30,000.
Once installed, we plan to relocate the existing generator to the Gathering Place, where current capacity is very limited. This upgrade would significantly improve the building’s functionality during power outages, ensuring a more reliable, comfortable, and usable space for residents when they need it most.
We also continue to seek support to replace a deteriorating section of asphalt walkway with concrete. Thanks to generous community support, a key portion was completed last year, but multiple important sections remain unfinished.
Many of our residents rely on walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and other mobility aids to move about the community. Safe, stable walkways are not simply a convenience, but are essential for maintaining independence, encouraging social connection, and ensuring residents can move confidently between buildings.
Deteriorating asphalt walkway, which has since been replaced.
A portion of new concrete walkway that has been replaced thanks to the generosity of donors, but there are additional crucial sections to do!
Together, these improvements will strengthen our emergency preparedness, enhance daily life, and help ensure that residents remain safe, supported, and comfortable.
Please note that the first $5,000 raised will be matched dollar for dollar, which will double the impact of your gift!
We appreciate your interest and support in these important projects!
Special thanks to our generous match donors:
