Now More Than Ever, We Need Your Support

Our challenges today are like none we have seen in our 25-year history of serving children, youth and families in the city of Atlanta. The needs are great, and your support is critical now more than ever.  

The financial downturn precipitated by the both the global health pandemic and nationwide protests around the lack of equitable treatment of African Americans created even more challenges for RE families already managing stretched resources.  

As many of you know, the Raising Expectations team jumped into action at the top of the pandemic.  In collaboration with RE parents, we identified the greatest areas of concern for families and set out to create new programs and initiatives that would meet the needs of our families.  Oddly enough, Raising Expectations was more equipped to address these prominent challenges and pivot since our model of engagement has always been rooted in meeting families, children and youth where they are.  Gratefully, we created efforts that supported addressing the educational needs, connecting families with financial assistance, and helping to address increased levels of food insecurity.  

After realizing that school would remain closed as we entered the 2020-2021 school year, learning that more students were struggling to log in for a variety of reasons, hearing from school leadership, the community and parents; it was clear, RE would need another significant pivot.  The answer, to open up a hybrid in-person school day, in-person after school program and virtual slate of programs that will address the stress and virtual burn out that our youth and families were experiencing.  

We are now offering an in-person learning pod that is serving 55 children and youth and a growing wait list.  As you can imagine, maintaining COVID safe socially distanced program requires more staff, resources and supplies.  

Please consider a donation to help us continue meeting and serving our families and youth during this critical time.  We are working to raise $10,000 for Giving Tuesday. We have a donor that will match $10,000, bringing our total to $20,000 to ensure that our programs will not be interrupted during the pandemic.
