Three Sweet Lost Beagles with Heartworm

On a frighteningly cold day in mid February, three sweet Beagles were found in terrible condition in rural VA, most likely discarded hunting dogs. So many hunting dogs are used and "set out" without shelter or food or medical care once a hunter has no use for them. These sweet three were lucky enough to avoid being hit and killed by cars and thankfully made their way to a home who kindly created outdoor space for them to keep them safe. They even got them some initial vetting but then learned that all three are heartworm positive, which is very expensive to treat.

As the days grew colder they kindly brought the dogs inside to warm up and then set about finding someone kind to take them in. But heartworm is a huge barrier to adoption due to the cost ($600-$800 a dog). They are so, so sweet and so anxious to be indoor family members with food and love.

So we are going to give them what they need but desperately need the funds to do their heartworm treatment and be prepared for the next dogs who come our way needing the same.
