There is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog.  It's even scientifically proven that owning and caring for one increases a person's life expectancy.  I can speak firsthand about how the power of a dog's love is able to heal a broken person, my Ichabod did just that for me when I adopted him over 12 years ago from a local rescue. Mancini (on the left), has only been with us for a year and a half but this Grandpa, affectionately known as Pee Paw, Notorious PEE and Weenie, all thanks to his love of peeing indoors, has brought many a smile to our faces during the darkest of quarantine days.  Ichabod has even grown to love him and that is no small miracle, folks.

I spend every Saturday morning walking the dogs of Downtown Dog Rescue, dogs they have rescued from local shelters that have been overlooked due to breed or age, seniors who require medical help that the shelter's can't afford and it is one of the brightest parts of my week as I get in about 5 miles of exercise with animals who are genuinely excited and happy to see me.

Downtown Dog Rescue not only rescues dogs from local shelters though, some of their most important work is done via their Pet Support Space in South LA  and Pet Resource Center on Skid Row. They supply pet food, medical vouchers and counseling for pet owners in crisis and those struggling to meet their basic needs. Opening an office near the South Los Angeles Shelter, where they have had a counselor on site since 2013, prevented more than 20,000 pets from entering the shelter system, was a natural progression for DDR when all of the city shelters were closed to the public last year due to COVID. DDR remains a partner of Los Angeles Animal Services, accepting referrals from staff on a daily basis as well as staffing a part-time counselor at the South LA shelter each week.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to Downtown Dog Rescue via the link below so they can continue to help the dogs and humans who love them.

Thanks in advance!

Love,

Tiff, Ichabod and Mancini
