Tina Thompson
Transplant Type: Liver
What if you were living on borrowed time?
Tina Thompson is fighting for her life. She has a history of diabetes, but three years ago, she was diagnosed with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Her condition has continued to decline, and now doctors say a liver transplant is critical to her survival.
Tina used to lead an active, independent life, but her health battle has forced her to adjust to an entirely new lifestyle. She can no longer work, due to erratic ammonia levels, nor can she spend as much time with her young grandson as she’d like. She’s often fatigued and suffering from bouts of illness, which prevents her from being active with her family. She dreams of being healthy enough to resume her normal activities. More than anything, she hopes to spend more time with her loved ones and to see her grandson grow up, but right now, she needs your help.
Unfortunately, Tina’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price. The average liver transplant costs approximately $878,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications, which are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Tina. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Tina Thompson” in the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
