Hello Community,
I am honored and excited to step into AYPAL's Co-Director role. I have been inspired by the many youth who have come though this space and have made real change in Oakland and beyond. The reason AYPAL exists and the mission resonates with me deeply as a second-generation Khmai woman and daughter of refugees.
AYPAL is a leadership development, community organizing, and coalition building organization that seeks to create healthy, safe, and thriving communities. AYPAL’s mission is to empower Oakland’s low-income Asian & Pacific Islander immigrant and refugee families to be leaders for school reform and neighborhood change.
Our approach to youth development and empowerment includes Leadership Skills Development, Youth Civic Engagement, and Cultural Arts Activism. We have been in existence for over two decades serving thousands of high school youth in Oakland living in high priority neighborhoods.
2019 has been a year of transitions. The timing is just right as we move into such a pivotal year for Asian American communities. We have much work ahead of us, and we'll need your support. Please consider giving to support API youth in Oakland. Thank you in advance.
