Giving Tuesday for Theatrical Outfit 2020

Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s idea of "the Beloved Community,"  TO's 2020-21 programming includes significant expansion of our community engagement to include core partnerships and additional show specific programming to deepen the conversation around our work. Core partnerships are being formed with organizations with whom our mission is aligned and with whom we are working to achieve common goals for the communities of Atlanta. We are supporting one another sharing resources, opening communication channels to our respective communities, offering discounted tickets to programming, providing space for gatherings when safe to do so, providing speakers and engagements events, and looking for more ways to serve each partner's specific needs. 

In November, TO produced "The Welcome Table" in partnership with B.L.A.C.T. ATL (Black Leaders Advocating for Cultural Theatre). This one-night event was implemented to create a space where artistry and service meet, to connect and inspire our community as we raised money to directly support the front-line organizations that serve the Atlanta homeless population. 

We recognize that theatre can offer a space for hard conversations that can create connections, help us engage authentically with one another, and to build that understanding into meaningful action. This is what inspires our community engagement efforts as we seek to affect positive change in our community, to create empathy and understanding, to connect with one another, and to understand the world a little better.
