My friends and clients, Amy and Evelyn Guttman, are devoted Occupational Therapists who are tired of seeing parents without the tools and confidence they need to support their children who have behavioral, mental and learning problems.
As therapists who have treated hundreds of kids, and trained hundreds of other therapists, they know while parents have the power to do so much for their children most of them don't know how.
Parents often feel that we need to bring our kid to the next expert, the expensive treatement to help them. But what if we were knowledgable to do much of it ourselves?
That's what they hope to do with their new nonprofit Hands On Parents.
Here are some of the things they want to do:
1. Develop a website to serve as a guide for parents with the tools and resources they need.
2. Host live virtual workshops and webinars to teach parents how to optimize their child’s development.
3. Build discussion forum to let parents share tips, tools and resources that have helped them.
4. Reach the many parents who silently struggle with their children's behavior and functioning.
They're launching Hands On Parents, a nonprofit to educate families to take a proactive approach which can prevent anxiety, sensory problems, and learning difficulties.
They want to educate parents on the extraordinary results that happen when parents are hands-on with their children’s development and I AM HERE FOR IT.
But do that all that, they need people like you, those who are bold enough to imagine a world where parents are knowledgeable and empowered, to step forward and make this a reality.
Can you help make this happen for parents like myself and others?
Thank you so much,
Tova Herskovitz
