My #GivingTuesday Fundraiser for FHR

What would you do if you suddenly found yourself unable to go to the grocery store? see your neighbor? or even get together for a lively game of chess or bingo?

Well, we all know what it feels like, now.  COVID-19 made sure of that! 😷 

What would you do if you were immunocompromised and live on Social Security, as well? 😯 

Silverwood Casitas offers much-needed subsidized housing for low-income seniors. Conveniently located on Tucson's west side, this 42-unit community allows residents to live independently, but stay connected. 

With 100% of our residents over the age of 62 with only Social Security for income, we, at Family Housing Resources (FHR), have seen this once thriving community become another statistic of seniors negatively impacted by the pandemic. 

Our residents do not have the luxury of going to the grocery store or engaging in their community craft room or using the community business center to connect with the outside world, anymore. 

Their lives have been upended tremendously disconnecting them from family, friends, and each other.

The first $5,000 raised through #GivingTuesday will help provide technology and enrichment amenities at Silverwood Casitas with all additional dollars raised to support FHR's programming and its staff.

#Giving Tuesday gives all of us a chance to give back some of that independence that these folks have lost while providing simple access to much-needed supplies and amenities that we take for granted.
