On October 12, 2025, Typhoon Halong tore through Western Alaska, bringing catastrophic flooding and relentless winds that changed entire communities overnight. More than 1,600 residents were forced to evacuate to larger cities, leaving behind over 230 beloved pets in the chaos.

In the face of unimaginable conditions, a handful of courageous community members chose to stay behind. During what became the largest airlift rescue effort in Alaska’s history, they worked tirelessly—feeding, locating, and safely capturing stranded animals so they could be transported to safety. Because of their dedication, hundreds of pets were given a second chance at life and the opportunity to be reunited with their families.

While many of these reunions have already taken place, our work is not finished. A significant number of dogs remain in foster care, waiting for their final step toward a stable, loving future. Before they can be placed in permanent homes, they must be spayed or neutered to ensure their long-term health and to prevent further overpopulation in already vulnerable communities.

Your support can help us complete this critical final phase. Every contribution brings us closer to ensuring these resilient animals receive the care they deserve and the fresh start they’ve been waiting for. Any funds raised beyond the cost of this essential medical care will go directly toward shipping much-needed food and supplies to impacted communities and displaced pets still in need.

Together, we can finish what this incredible rescue effort started—and give these dogs the safe, healthy futures they deserve.
